2. The Left-hand Side Lower Box: click “Folders” or “File Types” to easily find the files you need to restore.

3. The Right-hand Side Lower Box: All the deleted files with some information on their state, size, original path, and type are displayed here.

Recover Files from Local Disks or External Devices

File Undelete can scan all parts of a drive, looking for many of your deleted files. It offers a quick and effective way to recover files from local disks or external devices and will show you a laundry list of deleted files that have been recovered on the drive. To retrieve accidentally deleted files, you can choose the original disk or folders, click “Search”, and finally, all deleted files will find out.

Get Back Files Removed from Recycle Bin

Even if you have deleted files from Recycle Bin, you can easily get files back with File Undelete. Choose the original disk that the deleted files were on when they were deleted, click “Search”, and all lost files will be listed soon. Click “File Types”, and you will see kinds of types listed in a wide range of formats, such as JPG, FLV, RMV, MPGA, and so on. Choose the right image file format, and then the related image files will be displayed on the right panel.

File Filter Makes Data Recovery More Efficiently

The File Filter function improves the efficiency of data recovery a great deal. Using the File Filter function, you can narrow the list by file size, deleted date, and file state. After all the deleted files are listed, enter “*asd” to filter the results you already have found, or you can set the filter items to reduce the size of unnecessary files by Filename, Size, Date, and State. Remember to click “Ok”, “Filter” will help you display more accurate deleted files.

Display Clear State for File Recovery

When searching for a “Deleted File”, File Undelete reads the Microsoft Windows File Allocation Table (FAT) or Master File Table (MFT) to determine if the space used by the deleted file before its deletion is now being occupied by other active files. To give you an estimate of the probability of success of restoring the deleted files after a quick scanning, File Undelete classifies the recovery state as “Very Good”, “Good”, “Medium”, “Overwritten” and “Poor”. Please note that if the recovery state is “overwritten”, the files can not be recovered.

Save Recovered Files to User-Defined Folders

To minimize data loss, File Undelete allows users to save recovered files according to the user-defined location. Once you have restored the files, you can save the recovered files to any folder you like. Therefore, you can easily find the restored files where you saved them.

The program encrypts files using the Blowfish algorithm, which is extremely secure if you use a good password (longer passwords are more secure). Any file can be encrypted, including pictures, PDF files, text files, Word documents, or executable applications. This module also allows for the creation of self-extracting encrypted files, then you need not have a copy of Glary Utilities installed to decrypt the files.

Batch Encrypt files

If you have lots of files that need to encrypt, batch encrypts files can help to save much time. To batch encrypt files, you do not need to individually encrypt each item in the folder. All you need to do is to find the files you want to encrypt, click”Add File(s)” or drag and drop files in the blank field.

File Shredder https://www.glarysoft.com/kb/file-shredder/ Thu, 27 Oct 2022 16:51:05 +0000 https://72-14-185-161.ip.linodeusercontent.com/?p=204 File Shredder is a powerful program that keeps the Privacy and Security of your system intact. It deletes the data in such a manner that no tool can recover it. It uses the utmost safety method American DoD 5220.22-M developed by the US Department of Defense, to securely remove the data.

Interface Overview

1. The First Line Buttons: quick access button to “File Shredder” or “Wipe Free Space” function.

2. The Upper Box: allows you to add files or folders you want to shred.

3. The Lower Field: allows you to schedule the number of times the files are marked to delete, and this is set to 3 by default.

4. “Erase Now” Button: After adding the files and folders to the delete list, click ‘Erase Now’ to permanently delete them.

Set the Number of Times to Delete Files

You can specify the number of times the files marked to delete are over-written with junk data before deletion. The range of passes is from 1 to 10. By default, this is set to 3. The security of the deletion can be increased further by increasing the number of repetitions, but the time required will also increase.

How to Shred Files

When you delete a file in Windows, it will probably be moved to the Recycle Bin. Anybody can get a file back out of the Recycle Bin. For this reason, many users empty the Recycle Bin regularly or delete their files without moving them to the Recycle Bin.

But you should know that Windows does not destroy a file when deletes it. Its entire contents are still located on the hard drive. Windows marks the file as “deleted” in the file system, and the disk space occupied by the file can be used to store other data. But as long as nothing is saved in the area occupied by the deleted file, this “lost” file can be found and recovered easily through inexpensive and easily available data recovery utilities. These tools make your data unsafe, as any unauthorized person can recover the deleted data and use it. Here File Shredder can help you solve this issue.

  • To start the tool, click ‘File Shredder’ from the Glary Utilities main window.
  • Click the ‘Add File(s)’ button to find and insert the files from your hard drive. You can also add folders by clicking the ‘Add Folder’ button.
  • After adding the files and folders to the delete list, click ‘Erase Now’ to permanently delete them.

How to Wipe Free Space

When you delete or empty a file, Windows removes the reference to that file but doesn’t remove the actual data that made up the file from your hard disk. Over time, this data will be overwritten as Windows writes new files to that disk area. However, the files can be easily recovered by data recovery software. Given the right recovery program, someone could reconstruct all or parts of the files that you’ve deleted. For privacy and security reasons, you can set it to wipe the free areas of your hard drive so that deleted files can never be recovered.

Please Note: Wipe free space can take a substantial amount of time.

  • To start the tool, click ‘Wipe free space’ on the Advanced Tools page from Glary Utilities.
  • Select the drive you want to wipe the free space.
  • After marking the drives, click ‘Wipe Now’ to permanently delete them.
