Using ‘Browser Assistant’, you can easily disable, enable and delete any of these “add-ons” to keep your browser as stable and efficient as possible.

Interface Overview

1.The Upper Box:
quick access button to IE BHOsIE ToolbarsIE Explorer Bars and Hijack Restore, and so on. The related context will be shown below.

2. The Lower Icon: if you want to customize Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Internet Explorer, just click its logo.

Red Color under IE Downloaded ActiveX

When you click IE Downloaded ActiveX, you will see some “Downloaded ActiveX Programs” in red. Here “red color” means this program is damaged. Under Properties, you will see that it says “Damaged”. If the program is damaged, it can not be repaired. All you need to do is to redownload and reinstall it.

How to Control IE BHOs

Many add-ons come from the Internet. Most add-ons from the Internet require that you give your permission before they are downloaded to your computer. Some, however, might be downloaded without your knowledge. This can happen if you previously gave permission for all downloads from a particular Web site or because the add-on was part of another program you installed. Some add-ons are installed with Microsoft Windows.

Add-ons are typically fine, but sometimes they force Internet Explorer to shut down unexpectedly. Spyware and browser redirectors often use BHOs to display advertisements or follow your activities across the Internet.

Using the ‘Browser Assistant’ you can easily remove any of these “add-ons” to keep your IE browser as stable and efficient as possible. Click the Internet Explorer browser’s logo, and find ‘IE BHOs’, and you will see all the add-ons. Choose the unneeded add-ons if you want to view more information by clicking ‘Properties’, and then you can decide to ‘block this item’ or ‘permanently remove this item’.

‘Hijack Restore’ allows to modify of all default IE settings

‘Browser Assistant’ allows you to view Internet Explorer’s set URL and sites such as your current default home page, search URLs, and many of the hidden URLs that Internet Explorer uses and that are commonly taken advantage of by URL redirectors.

You can modify the settings for each URL and site and save your settings for later use. And ‘Browser Assistant’ can restore all default IE settings with just one click on ‘Restore’.

Block/Remove useless Search Engines in Mozilla Firefox

When your Web browser is redirected, attempts to view some Web sites (such as common search engines or popular Web directory sites) are automatically redirected to an alternative Web site of the attacker’s choice without your knowledge or consent. A browser redirector may also disallow access to certain Web pages, for example, the site of an antivirus software manufacturer. These programs also can disable antivirus and anti-spyware software.

Click the Mozilla Firefox browser’s logo, and find ‘Search Engines’, and you will see all the search engines in Mozilla Firefox here. Choose a useless or unknown search engine. If you want to view more information on this search engine, click ‘Properties’, and then you can decide to ‘block this item’ or ‘permanently remove this item’.

Remove Cookies in Mozilla Firefox

After browsing with Mozilla Firefox, several cookies may occur. Here you can click Mozilla Firefox’s logo below, find Cookies, or you can use Check All to check all the items, and finally, click the Remove Items button to delete the selected cookies.

Windows Standard Tools https://www.glarysoft.com/kb/windows-standard-tools/ Thu, 27 Oct 2022 16:33:49 +0000 https://72-14-185-161.ip.linodeusercontent.com/?p=128 The Windows Standard Tools provide direct access to the five most useful tools, making it much easier to use them regularly and helping you to keep your system stable and running smoothly.

Check Disk

A command-line tool that checks volumes for problems. The tool then tries to repair any that it finds. For example, Check Disk can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors.

Disk Defrag

When a program is installed on your computer, the program’s files may be broken up over multiple locations on your hard disk. This is called fragmentation. If fragmentation occurs on your hard disk, the performance of programs on your computer is slower. The Disk Defrag tool optimizes the performance of your computer by reorganizing the files on your hard disk into contiguous blocks. When Disk Defrag completes the defragmentation of files on your hard disk, the performance of your programs is faster because the files are arranged closer together.

System Restore

Every time you download or install a new game, application, or software update, you make changes to your computer. Sometimes that change may make your system unstable. Have you ever wanted to go back to the way it was? With System Restore, you can.

Repair System Files

Repair System Files gives an administrator the ability to scan all protected files to verify their versions. If Repair System Files discovers that a protected file has been overwritten, it retrieves the correct version of the file from the cache folder (%Systemroot%\System32\Dllcache) or the Windows installation source files and then replaces the incorrect file.

Backup

The Backup utility helps you protect data from accidental loss if your system experiences hardware or storage media failure.

Replace Task Manager

Process Manager is an enhanced task manager that displays detailed information about programs and processes running on the computer. It shows all the standard information, including file name, description, CPU usage, and a unique security risk rating for determining whether the running process should be terminated or blocked.

Click from the “File” menu and select “Replace Task Manager”, Process Manager will integrate itself into your system so that you can access the module by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, or by right-clicking on an empty part of the taskbar and selecting Task Manager. If you want to use the Windows Task Manager again, select the same menu item to remove the check mark in front of it.

Security Rating Bar — Telling you which processes are dangerous

Process Manager has a unique risk rating which is quite conclusive. It shows a list of the risk rating and allows you to determine whether the process should be terminated or removed. The green/red bars directly indicate the risks and necessity index for each process. The longer the green part is, the safer the running process is. Quite the contrary, the longer the red part is, the more dangerous the running process is. Therefore, you can remove the running process with a red bar and be careful with those with longer red bars. If all this information is not enough for your reference, you can also refer to other users’ experiences with a particular process through a click on the interface.

End/Block a Process

Click the process you want to end/block, and then click End/Block Process.

Be careful when ending a process. If you end an application, you will lose unsaved data. If you end a system service, some parts of the system might not function properly.

All the processes blocked will be recorded in the block list, which can be accessed from the “Edit” menu. If you want to unblock a process, please directly remove it from the block list.

Stop/Start Process Manager on Windows Logon
